Oklahoma Sen. Dave Rader was recognized today with the Distinguished Service Award for Higher Education. He was honored for his support of higher education in his role as Vice Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee and as a member of the Natural Resources and Regulatory Services, Energy, Finance, and Public Safety committees and the Committee on Redistricting.

“Sen. Rader has been a strong advocate for our state system colleges and universities, and for investing in public higher education, since his election to the Oklahoma State Senate in 2016,” said Chancellor Glen D. Johnson. “As an educator, mentor and coach, he has positively impacted the lives of many students and clearly recognizes the value of a higher education. Sen. Rader has provided consistent leadership in our effort to fund concurrent enrollment, faculty pay, and the deferred maintenance needs on our campuses. We are pleased to honor Sen. Rader with a Distinguished Service Award for Higher Education.”

The Distinguished Service Awards for Higher Education recognize individuals who demonstrate distinguished leadership and support of higher education in Oklahoma during the legislative session. It is the highest award presented by the State Regents and the Council of College and University Presidents.

“To serve as a Senator in the legislature of the state of Oklahoma is indeed an honor,” said Sen. Rader. “To have an opportunity to work toward an ever improvement of our higher education system makes the job even more special. We have talented and dedicated individuals leading our higher ed community. Therefore, to be recognized by that community with a service award is most fulfilling and treasured. Thank you, Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.”
