Students and their parents can have personal, professional assistance in learning about financial aid and planning for college thanks to the upcoming television event “Cash for College.”

“Cash for College” will be televised live at 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 25, on OETA. Experts will be in the studio to discuss the various aspects of financial aid. Viewers will be able to call toll-free and ask questions of student financial aid professionals from various Oklahoma colleges, universities, technology centers and professional schools.

During the one-hour, statewide telecast, discussions will include information on types of financial aid available, how to apply for financial aid, how to avoid common mistakes when filling out the financial aid application and much more.

The grant has been matched by more than $25 million from state and partner resources. With the addition of year six federal funding, Oklahoma's GEAR UP program has received approximately $25 million in federal funds since 1999. GEAR UP receives 50 percent of total funding from the federal government and 50 percent from other organizations.
